I was asked by some of my favorite models for this shoot, Madisan Amelia and Amy Leferve, better known as Salt (Amy) and Pepper (Madisan). If you know these two girls, you will know it’s ironic that Amy is salt and Madisan is Pepper, which these two of become quite inseparable. Gotta love these two!! I’ve worked with these models on several shoots in past, all have been published or soon to be published shoots. They also have done Fashion Week with me as one of my final models. They also brought to the team Justin V., which I was excited about. I worked with Justin on a larger scale photo shoot, but I was excited to work with him on this smaller project. Same with Cole, I first met him through working Fashion Week. This was our first project together outside of the event on a shoot together. I’ve worked with Alysia on multiple shoots. She actually was one of the first people I worked with when I moved to Las Vegas.

90s Grunge fashion was the inspiration of this shoot. When they told me about the shoot, I wasn’t sold on the idea. I am more of a “in the moment” kind of person. Reliving my past of the 90s for inspiration wasn’t something I was looking forward to. For inspiration I looked at my favorite 90’s movies such as Clueless and hit TV show 90210. I grew up on shows like this! Same as Saved By the Bell. After watching a few episodes of these for inspiration, my spark of interest was lit!! I started reach out to different boutiques to get a jump on the wardrobe, and R+D Hipster was the perfect store. Very 90’s, hipster, plaid, denim, leather, and lace! Going into the store I knew I wanted grunge, plaids, flannels. I had to pull 3 looks for each model, a total of 12 looks. It started to sink in that this was going to be a big project for me!!!

While there at R+D, I noticed their inventory wasn’t quite what I was feeling for the men’s looks. For the women wardrobe, it was perfect!! I even felt a littl of 90's UK grunge So since I personally tend to hold on to my personal wardrobe, some of my personal styling items fit well with this shoot. Six looks pulled from R+D for the female models. Lots of denim, some lace, plaids, and leggings. After pulling the wardrobe and seeing it on my rack, I began to feel excited about this shoot.

Call time was at 12 noon, for hair and makeup. We started shooting around 3:30 pm downtown Las Vegas, in the streets and alley ways. For this theme of shoot, the location was perfect! The beginning of the shoot reminded me of an Aaron Spelling Show (90210 or Melrose Place). We had our 90’s characters dressed and styled in wardrobe, with the curled locks, and 90's makeup. About an hour into the shoot, it was getting dark and the sun was setting. Being November sun going down sooner than we anticipated. To get the shoot done, we had to find more light! With the help of alley way street lights, we were able to finish the shoot. Just from our cell phones for behind the scenes shots, you can see the lighting added a different type of filters on the images. I can’t wait to see what the final images look like. By the end of the shoot, were able to get all looks shot. Mixed it up with girls only, guys only, and of course some group shots of all four.
